This week, I began preparing to give my first research
speech to the class. While we presented
an introductory speech at the beginning of the school year, this will be the
first opportunity I’ve had to formally present what I have learned about my
field of study to an audience. This speech will also be the first presentation
that requires a visual aid and professional dress.
I have been spending time ensuring that my portfolio is up
to date and organized, since it will be on display during the speech. It
includes nearly everything I’ve worked on this school year, including my
research assessments, interview assessments, topic proposal, mission statement,
and quote. I think it’s exciting to see how my research is coming together
already, even in this early stage of the school year, to form a single cohesive
product.
As always, I have continued to conduct research on my topic,
and I was fortunate enough to receive a recommendation on an article to read from
a forensic psychologist who I had contacted. The article went into great detail
on the actual responsibilities of a forensic psychologist, the outlook of the
field, the educational requirements, and advice for individuals who are currently
training to become forensic psychologists.
