Weekly Report 15

After we returned from winter break, much of our focus shifted to our original work.  I already had a proposal for my original work planned out, and this week I began to work towards implementing my plan.  I have also continued to work towards finding a mentor by following up with the professional I have been communicating with. In addition, I completed another assessment that allowed me to reflect on my experiences in my research interviews, and the information I gained.

In class, we took time to refocus ourselves by setting SMART goals. These goals that we created for ourselves had to be Specific (something we could definitely work towards instead of just a vague idea), Measurable (so that we have a way to assess our progress), Attainable (goals that we can reasonably accomplish), Realistic (not outrageous or impossible), and Timely (giving ourselves a time frame to accomplish the goal within). We set multiple goals for the short term, mid term, and long term.  These goals were designed not only to guide us in our ISM journey, but throughout our lives as well. While the goals were a useful tool for the class, the emphasis was on setting goals for ourselves to help us accomplish what we want to in life, not only this school year.
